Three global academic publishing powerhouses have approached the Delhi high court claiming copyright infringement against online repositories that provide free access to paywalled research, in what may become a significant intellectual property rights case in India.
The lack of technical considerations in the proposal is also apparent since implementing the proposal is infeasible for certain intermediaries. Presumably, the government’s intention is not to disallow end-to-end encryption so that intermediaries can monitor content.
The government has directed Internet service providers to block 827 websites that host pornographic content following an order by the Uttarakhand high court, according to official sources.
