Delhi LG nod to employ 10,000 home guards

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the enrolment of over 10,000 personnel as Delhi home guards, with the selection process to be completed by March 2024. However, the LG has made changes to the recruitment process, including lowering the age limit to 45 years, raising the minimum qualification to Class 12, and giving preference to former civil defence volunteers. The Delhi government and LG's office have clashed over the services of CDVs, with legal objections raised about their appointment to regular jobs. CDVs have been protesting for several weeks over salary delays.

Delhi cops on G20 duty to get 2 leaves over next 10 days

1.54 lakh recruited in UP Police in last 6 years

Over 2,000 dependents of police personnel, who died during their service period, were recruited as sub-inspectors, constables in the police force.

In 2022 alone, direct recruitment was done for 9,534 sub-inspector (SI) and equivalent posts in a record time of 100 days, they said and claimed that this was one of the biggest direct recruitment drives for sub-inspectors done by any police force in the country. (File)
