After video goes viral, giant slide in US's Michigan shut down

A giant slide at a park in the largest city in the US state of Michigan Detroit closed on the same day it opened after children were launched into the air while attempting to slide down.

In a video of the Belle Isle Park that has gone viral on social media, children wearing gunny bags can be seen being completely thrown off in the air and then slamming against the metal body of the giant slide as their guardians watch.
“We are going to be making some adjustments to the speed that we have seen users coming down today. Hopefully, after our small adjustment, we will be back up and running and the slide will be slower for more enjoyment,” the park made a statement on its Facebook page in the wee hours of Saturday, after closing down the slide on Friday itself.

The slide apparently costs only a dollar to ride but its dangerous slope immediately caught the attention of the social media users who flooded the comments on the post which announced the temporary shutdown for ‘readjustments’.
“Ok listen. And hear me out. Make it steeper,” a user commented jokingly.
The park authorities later clarified that they have made changes to the slide and taken measures to scrub the surface and sprayed water on the slide between rides to help control the speed, inviting people to give it a try again.
