Bigg Boss 9: All the tasks that let us down this season
With the show coming back with its ninth season, it was expected that the show would be huge.tv Updated: Jan 22, 2016 18:24 IST
Bigg Boss 9 is famous for its drama, controversy, flings and fights. However, it is the tasks given to contestants that keep us entertained and coming back for more. There are fun tasks, mean tasks, tough tasks and steamy tasks. They help in igniting some fire in the house. They help in cooking up controversies. They help in making or breaking a relationship.
With the show coming back with its ninth season, it was expected that the show would be huge. The challenges would be tougher. But the tasks of this season let us down. We bring you 5 which could have been the game changers but fizzled out…
The play-pause task
The famous ‘play-pause’ task that has become an integral part of Bigg Boss was obviously introduced in this season too. In this task, Bigg Boss gives you an instruction - play, pause, rewind or fast forward - which contestants have to follow while doing their usual chores. Generally, during this task, a family member of each participant visits the house while they are on the pause mode. This leads to drama, emotion, controversy… the works. Only this year, there was nothing. Family members came and went, celebs visited but the drama value of it all was zero. And we were so disappointed.
The shararti baccha task
A new task that was introduced this season, Shararti Baccha task was easily the most childish task in a show that prides itself on its juvenile tasks. In this task, some of the contestants had to behave like kids and the others had to take care of them and Rimi Sen was supposed to regulate the task. This task was fun but soon the not-so-interested-in-tasks Rimi Sen gave up and quit. This one just went phut because nobody was interested.
This task was good, just not good enough. Bigg Boss took the effort to make the house look like a 7-star hotel and even sent in some ex-contestants as guests. Housemates had to welcome them and make sure that they had a good time. There was some drama when guests started throwing tantrums but soon contestants simply quit. We thought quitting was just not an option when it came to Bigg Boss house. Their lack of interest to perform given tasks makes us lose interest in the show. This was a good effort which simply went in vain.
The chor-police task
This task only had Prince, Priya and Rishabh participating. While Priya and Rishabh were playing detectives, Prince was the secret murderer. RJ Malishka added some fun to the task by helping the detectives. The task jazzed up the mood of the house but we have seen better and more dramatic tasks in the past. This task did not even need the participation of other contestants which made it quite boring.
This task failed miserably. With ex-contestant Imam Siddique entering the house for a week, the excitement level had gone way up. Probably one of the most controversial contestants ever, we were expecting some fun and a lot of drama. And the man turned out to be an epic fail. In this task, Imam was supposed to give challenging tasks to the contestants but he was a bit too nice to them. At one point, Bigg Boss called Imam into the confession room and asked him to make sure that the tasks are tough enough that at least two contestants quit but Imam failed to deliver. The task was a success with everyone happily participating. Even Bigg Boss was disappointed. This task was a major let down.
Probably creative minds behind Bigg Boss tasks are running out of interesting ideas. Or it is just that the contestants in this season are pretty laid back and do not perform task whole-heartedly. However, we are hoping that the next season would bring some more masala to the show and remind us why we love this show.
