Colors learns the hard 'name' way!
Film and television producer Ashok Mudgal files a case against the producers of Uttaran over its name. Anil Merani finds out.
Film and television producer Ashok Mudgal has filed a case against the producers of the Colors show Uttaran over its name. Mudgal has moved Mumbai High Court demanding a stay order claiming copyright violation.
Mudgal alleges that he had submitted a show with the same title to Sony TV in May, last year. The channel asked him to tweak the little girl’s character and make it a little more positive. “I have even registered my title and story with the Film Maker’s Combine (FMC). I have all the relevant papers to prove my claim,” says Mudgal.
A press release from the channel stated, “We didn’t receive any notice or a copy of the suit filed against us either from the court or Ashok Mudgal, in connection with the show Uttaran. We wish to clarify that we are the owner of the show and have all the rights to the title and script of the show. We will go ahead with the broadcast of the show as per schedule.
