The second arrest came hours after the comedian – best known for his role as Palak in the popular TV show Comedy Nights with Kapil – was arrested and granted bail by police in Kaithal on the same charges.
He was arrested on charges of hurting religious sentiments for allegedly mimicking the Dera chief– who claims to have a following running into crores – after a member of the sect complained.
“We arrested Kiku Shardaas a similar case under section 295-A (hurting religious sentiments) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against Sharda here in Fatehabad city police station. He was later released after he assured that he will help Fatehabad police for investigation,” Fatehabad station house officer (SHO) Dinesh Kumar told HT.
The actor was released after he apologised and said it wasn’t his intention to hurt any religious sentiments with his performance. Singh also accepted the apology.
