Amrita Rao was last seen in Singh Saab The Great (2013). Now, after over two years, the actor has ventured into television with a finite series. Ask her if her break from showbiz was a planned one, and she says, “There was no reason for the break. I was supposed to start a film last year, but it got pushed to this year. I have done films that are family-oriented, and they are remembered even today.”

Amrita, who has done movies like Main Hoon Naa (2004), Vivah (2006) and Jolly LLB (2013), says she is secure about her career, and doesn’t feel the need “to grab every film that comes her way”. “That destroys your portfolio. I want people to think that if I’m in a film, then that film definitely has good content. It doesn’t matter to me what’s trending or what is written about me,” she says, adding that she doesn’t feel that she has missed out on anything in her 14-year-long career. “You can do 100 films, but actors are remembered for that one film [that makes an impact]. I have done such films. The audience loves me, and that’s what matters,” says Amrita.

Talking about her stint on television, which is a new medium for her, the actor says she is feeling “alive and energetic”. “It is a challenge, and I know it won’t be easy. But I said yes to it, as the concept is interesting. Daily soaps are unpredictable, and one can’t predict when the track changes,” she says.
