Instant Khichdi, the sitcom that had couch potatoes rolling, will now graduate to the big screen. Producer Jamnadas Majethia and director Aatish Kapadia are ready with Khichdi – The Movie, made in association with Fox Star Studios, that will open in the theatres on October 1.

Supriya Pathak Kapoor, Rajiv Mehta, Vandana Pathak, Deven Bhojani, Anang Desai and Majethia himself return as the howlarious members of the Parekh family around whom the story revolves. This time, their roller coaster ride takes them through a tsunami of hilarious situations. And Majethia is convinced Khichdi – The Movie will “recreate the magic of TV and hopefully redefine comedy in Indian cinema”.

Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, India, is upbeat following research feedback from a trial audience who have highly rated the characters of Hansa, Praful, Babuji, Himanshu and Jayshree.

“They loved it, it’s a wholesome comedy the whole family can watch together without cringing in their seats,” he enthused.
