Shweta Basu Prasad is ready to start a new chapter in her life. The television star is now engaged to her boyfriend, filmmaker Rohit Mittal.

According to a report in The Times of India, Shweta proposed to Rohit in Goa some time ago and he did the same for her at his home in Pune in 2017. “Gone are the days when women wait for men to make the first move. Though the feeling was mutual, it was Shweta who proposed to Rohit in Goa first. He then proposed her in Pune (his hometown). While marriage is on the cards, the couple is not in a hurry to walk down the aisle,” a source told the daily.

“The two have been together for four years now and got engaged last year,” the source added. Shweta and Rohit were introduced to each other by director Anurag Kashyap. They have worked together in a few short films.

TOI also contacted Shweta about the engagement, who confirmed the news and said they do not want to talk more about it as they are both very private people.

Shweta posted a cute video on her Instagram story in which she and Rohit can be seen giving her brother some brutal birthday bumps. She regularly posts pictures with Rohit on social media. Here are a few:

Shweta made her Bollywood debut as a child artist in 2002’s Makdee. She worked with Shabana Azmi in the film and won a National Award for her performance.

She recently appeared in the historical fiction show, Chandra Nandini opposite Rajat Tokas.
