After chasing hens, bathing buffaloes and picking cow dung, small screen actress Roshni Chopra walked away with the title of India's Desi Girl at the finale of the Imagine TV reality show on Sunday.

The 30-year-old, who had been living in Sialba Majri village near Chandigarh city since the past seven weeks and faced everyday challenges of village life, edged past other finalists Ishitta Arun and Kashmera Shah.

"My experience in Sialba Majri has been one of the most fulfilling and challenging journeys. And I can proudly say is that the seven weeks I've spent here have helped me discover my inner desi girl," Roshni said in a press statement issued before the finale.

The decision came after considering votes by villagers of Sialba Majri as well as viewers across India.

Desi Girl, hosted by popular actor Rohit Roy, started with eight glamour girls - Sambhavna Seth, Kashmera Shah, Roshni Chopra, Monica Bedi, Anmol Singh, Rucha Gujarati, Ishitta Arun and Aushima Sawhney.

The concept of the show involved these urban girls surviving the tough village life, and performing the daily chores of villagers.

The finale saw energetic and lively dance performances by all the contestants, and stand-up comedian Sunil Grover added bouts of humour with his jokes. The respective families of the contestants and panchayat members from the village too came to show their support.
