Sony Entertainment, the channel helming the show, is now looking for a replacement for the actor, also a trained dancer, to co-judge the show with Dixit, who has recently given the nod. The celebrity dance reality show is expected to go on floors in December.
"We’re working on a deadline. We were in talks with Shahid for a while, but he has opted out of the show. So, we’re considering some other popular names from Bollywood. But we cannot divulge names till we’ve not signed the deal," says the official spokesperson for the channel.
When asked why Kapoor refused, the actor’s official spokesperson says, "Shahid, at the moment, is not doing a TV show because he’s busy with his father Pankaj’s directorial debut, Mausam. Immediately after that, he will be working on Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heer Ranjha. He’s also expected to sign on another project for which the talks are on."
Meanwhile, it’s learnt that the channel has roped in a couple of celebrity participants for the show, which may not be produced by Siddharth Basu’s Synergy Adlabs. It may get passed on to BBC’s TV show production unit.
The current list of contestants includes former cricketer and current commentator Navjot Singh Siddhu, actor and stand-up comedy judge Shekhar Suman, TV actor Mahi Vij (Nakusha of Laagi Tujhse Lagan), model-actor Yana Gupta and singer Anushka Manchanda.
It’s also said that the channel has TV actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Ankita Lokhande, Neena Gupta, Ragini Khanna and badminton champ Jwala Gutta on board for the fourth season of the show that should be on air, soon after Kaun Banega Crorepati 4 wraps up for the season. Jhalak Dikkhlaa Jaa 4 is expected to be anchored by season one winner Mona Singh. The hunt is on for a co-judge to partner her.
