There’s no pressure in television: Riteish Deshmukh

Riteish Deshmukh is all set to judge a new dance show, India’s Dancing Superstars with choreographers Geeta Kapur and Ashley Lobo. The show is expected to go on air by April end.

Riteish Deshmukh is the latest star to jump on the bandwagon of Bollywood actors turning judges on reality shows on the small screen. He will be seen judging a new dance show, titled India’s Dancing Superstars (IDS) with choreographers Geeta Kapur and Ashley Lobo. The show is expected to go on air by April end.

“I loved the concept of the show which is unique from the current dance competitions on TV. There is no age barrier for contestants, who can participate solo, as a couple or in a group. That was the most exciting and interesting part. The auditions have already received an overwhelming response in 16 cities. I am happy to have talented choreographers like Geeta and Ashley accompanying me. I’m looking forward to the shoot,” says Riteish.

The actor, who has been part of many dance numbers from his films such as Papa Toh Band Bajaye (Housefull 2, 2012) and Dekha Jo Tujhe Yaar (Apna Sapna Money Money, 2006), says he took up the project also because he enjoys dancing. “It is an integral part of Indian films, but also a very tough thing to master. But I love dancing and also enjoy watching dance reality shows on TV,” he says.

Riteish is quick to add that he isn’t turning to televsion for easy money. “I don’t think money is the issue. We make the same amount of money in films too. Plus, both TV and film projects require the same amount of time — three months. But yes, there’s no pressure on TV if you are judging a show. You are part of the journey of the contestants from start to finish. To see them grow is a fulfilling experience,” says Ritesh, who is currently shooting for a Marathi film, titled Lai Bhaari. Buzz is that he is in talks for another TV show — the Marathi version of Big Boss. Ask him and he says, “It is premature to talk about it.”
