Actor Amrita Prakash has been a part of films such as Tum Bin and Vivaah.

Actor Amrita Prakash has been working in Hindi and southern cinema since the age of four. What has kept her going for so long? “A true love” for the craft, says the actor, who’s best remembered as Amrita Rao’s younger sister Choti from 2006 film Vivaah.

Now starring in a daily soap, she says, “I think people who’re in this line of work just for the money and fame may peak easily, but will also fall back into the shadows just as easily. For the long haul, it’s better that everyone stays prepared. Because it’s going to be a long, hard, difficult journey that one would want to give up many times. It’s only true love for the craft that keeps everyone going.”

Amrita has done films such as Tum Bin (2001), Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai (2003), and Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi (2008), and TV shows such as Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Love By Chance, and Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya. With all this experience, she knows the ins and outs of the glamour industry.

About her own journey, she says, “I’ve worked very long and very hard to be where I am today. I’m fortunate to be at a place where I don’t have to worry about good work as long as I work with diligence and honesty. But this has come after putting in a lot of blood and sweat. And most of all, sincerity. TV and films are both very competitive fields and it takes a lot of hard work to really make it. I believe the only way to do it is to seek [stature] with honesty, diligence, and resilience. There are no short cuts.”
