TV actors on weight loss spree
In a recent interview, Mona Singh revealed that she lost around 5kg before she started shooting for her new reality show. Like her, there have been many actors that shed weight while on a break from work. We talk to a few of them to find out what motivated them, and the regimen they followed.
Most television actors often struggle to take time out to hit the gym, what with the long, gruelling shooting schedules they are caught up with. Most are able to stick to a regimented workout only when they are in between projects.
In a recent interview, Mona Singh revealed that she lost around 5kg before she started shooting for her new reality show. Like her, there have been many actors that while on a break from work. We talk to a few of them to find out what motivated them, and the regimen they followed.
Nandish Sandhu
Weight lost: 8 kg


Motivation: "The weight loss was important because I would look better on screen. Plus, I believe a healthy lifestyle is very important, which, at times, can go for a toss due to the hectic shooting schedules," says Nandish.
The plan: The actor brought about an overhaul in his lifestyle. "I lost weight by eating right as well as working out. At times, I was working out even twice a day," he says.
Rashami Desai
weight lost: 10 kg
Motivation: Rashami wanted to look fitter for better career options.
The plan: She lost weight by doing yoga. She finds this workout better than gymming.
Shabbir Ahluwalia
Weight lost: 13 kg
Motivation: "I had to lose weight for my new role, as I was bulky," says the actor.
The plan: Besides hitting the gym, Shabbir also turned to sports to shed kilos. "I would play football, cricket, badminton and squash with my friends. I would go to the gym twice a week. On the whole, I used to exercise seven days a week," he informs. It took the actor two months of arduous training to sculpt his body.
Ragini Khanna
Weight lost: 7 kg
Motivation: "My health was suffering a lot while shooting for Sasuraal Genda Phool, and I wanted to look better," says Ragini.
The plan: Ragini’s weight loss also led to her building better stamina. "I would eat small meals and took ample rest as well. Once I got the hang of it, I began enjoying it. I feel fitter and energetic. My skin and hair has become better since I started working out," she says.
