Trump said the Syrian government was maintaining custody of some of the world’s most dangerous terrorists, even as Syrian forces and the Kurdish-led SDF blamed each other for the mass jailbreak. The breakout followed clashes and shifting control in the region, raising fears of an ISIS resurgence.
