Botched Nagaland ambush: 'Jawans didn't follow SOP, fired disproportionately'

The botched ambush in Nagaland's Mon district in December led to the death of at least 12 civilians. Nagaland Police - Army personnel did not follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) & rules of engagement. Amid a massive uproar over the killings the army had initiated a court of inquiry (COI). The Nagaland state government had set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the incident. State top cop stated police probe revealed disproportionate firing by a team of the 21 Para Special Forces. Addressing a press meet, the Nagaland DGP said 5 cases been registered & the investigation is underway.
