This man is addicted to eating a plate of sand and gravel every day. 45-year-old Hans Raj first developed a taste for the bizarre 'snacks' when he was 20. His habits have carved him a name as the sand man in his home state of Uttar Pradesh. Doctors have suggested his cravings for the mixture of sand and gravel could be down to a condition called Pica, an eating disorder which sees suffers develop appetites for normally non-edible objects. Raj - who claims he has never suffered any health complications from his strange diet - said: “I can't live without eating sand. My stomach hurts if I don't eat sand. His friends have spent years trying to dissuade him from eating the objects but nothing has so far convinced Raj to quit his bizarre habit.
