UK mutant strain makes its way to India; 6 returnees test positive

Six UK returnees tested positive for the new variant genome of Sars-Cov-2 virus. 3 are in NIMHANS, Bengaluru; 2 in CCMB, Hyderabad and 1 in NIV, Pune. They have been kept in single-room isolation in designated health care facilities. Contact tracing has been initiated for co-travellers, family contacts and others. From November 25 to December 23, about 33,000 passengers disembarked at various India airports from the UK. Passengers being tracked & subjected to RT-PCR tests to detect Covid-19. Of all the samples tested, 114 samples have tested positive for Covid-19 so far. The presence of the new variant has been reported by several countries in the world. Watch the full video for more.
