Hindus celebrate maha ashtami

Hindus thronged temples across northern India to offer special prayers on the occasion of 'Maha Ashtami' the eight and most auspicious day of the Navaratri festival today. "Navratri", which is dedicated to Hindu Goddess Durga is celebrated twice in a year. In New Delhi, devotees swarmed a hugely popular temple in Jhandewalan locality, offering flowers, sweetmeats and coconut, apart from other offerings to the Goddess of Power.
