After Mamata’s unity call, Congress MP says TMC’s failure led to BJP’s rise
A day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave a call for greater Opposition integration at the national level, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury expressed his scepticism. The Leader of Congress in the Lower House of Parliament accused the Trinamool Congress supremo of doing flip-flops on the issue of Opposition unity. He also blamed the TMC government’s failures for the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP increased its tally in West Bengal from 2 to 18, while TMC could win only 22 as compared to 34 in 2014.
