China blocks India’s bid to designate Masood Azhar as global terrorist
China blocked India’s bid to designate Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist at the UN Security Council. The proposal to designate him as global terrorist was moved by UK, France and the US. The Proposal came in wake of Pulwama suicide bombing that was claimed by JeM and killed 40 troops. MEA said it will continue to pursue all avenues to bring terrorist leaders to justice. India expressed its gratitude towards members of the UN Security Council who moved the latest proposal for Azhar’s listing and the “unprecedented number of all other Security Council members as well as non-members who joined as co-sponsors”.
