HT Spotlight: Will netas put justice for Vivek Tiwari over politics?
The death of Apple executive Vivek Tiwari, allegedly shot by a police constable in Lucknow, has sent political temperatures soaring. A day after his death, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted a controversy by linking the incident with the dead executive’s religion to take a swipe at the Yogi Adityanath government. Tiwari’s wife Kalpana was quick to rebuff him saying that no politics should be played over her husband’s death. But clearly, the politics over this wrongful death has only just begun. Monday saw former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav visiting the Tiwari family, accusing the police and government of a cover up. BSP chief Mayawati too weighed in and has demanded a high level inquiry into the incident. Question is whether politics will succeed in once again sweeping the bigger issue under the carpet? Are U.P. cops guilty of being trigger happy and covering up the crime? HT Spotlight takes a look at the tragic incident and its fallout.
