PM Modi hails ‘big victory’ after UN sanctions on Jaish chief Masood Azhar
Just hours after Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar was declared a global terrorist by the United Nations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the development as a 'big victory'. He also called it a breakthrough in India's efforts to uproot terrorism. After hectic lobbying by India in the last few months, China finally dropped its opposition to placing sanctions on Masood Azhar via the 1267 Committee of the United Nations. Azhar was the mastermind behind the Pulwama attack in February 2019 in which 40 soldiers were martyred.
