‘We stand with you’: Shashi Tharoor extends support to students protesting at JNU

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor extended his support to students protesting at JNU on Jan 12. Tharoor addressed the gathering on JNU violence. He said, “I speak as a fellow Indian citizen of yours, this is not what our country is about and this should never have been allowed to happen. The worst thing is it reminded me in Nazi Germany in 1930s.” Tharoor added, “First time a religious test has been introduced into the definition of Indian citizenship. Never before in our country has it mattered what your religion was to qualify to be an Indian citizen.”
