Actor Deepika Padukone visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University on Tuesday. She offered support to students protesting against violence inside the campus on January 5, 2020. A masked mob had run amok at the varsity, targeting students and teachers, and vandalising public and private property. Padukone stood with the gathered students as they raised 'Jai Bhim' slogans. Other celebrities have also come out to voice their support for the students. A day earlier, film-makers and actors, including Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Taapsee Pannu had staged a protest in Mumbai regarding the violence.
