India’s first visually challenged woman IAS officer becomes Sub-Collector

India's first visually challenged woman IAS officer Pranjal Patil made headlines. Patil took charge as Sub-Collector of Thiruvananthapuram. Patil hails from Maharashtra's Ulhasnagar and lost her eyesight at the age of 6. Patil cracked the UPSC exam in 2016 and improved her rank to 124 in 2017, as per PTI. She was appointed Ernakulam Assistant Collector during her training period, as per PTI.
