Leaders and party workers of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) held a protest meet in Guwahati on Monday to protest against the state government's decision to give away six hundred acres of land to Bangladesh, which are in the state's Dhubri and Hailakandi district. They also appealed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh not to cede an inch of land to Bangladesh during his three-day visit to Dhaka. This move has been taken by the state government to solve an old border dispute that Assam has had with Bangladesh. AGP leaders who sat at the protest meet stated that the Prime Minister must stop this from happening, as he is an elected representative from Assam.
