Cop killed in Srinagar shootout

A police official lost his life in downtown Srinagar today in a shootout between the militants and the police. Sukhpal Singh, an assistant sub-inspector of police, received three bullet injuries and died shortly after he was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. The militants struck on a day when the government was removing a main CRPF bunker at the sensitive Lal Chowk to send out a message of normalcy returning to the Valley.
