Handmade fans industry in doldrums

Traditional craftsmen making exquisite handmade fans in India's northern Bijnore face an uphill task due to raw material crunch. Dried date palm leaves are the key raw material used in manufacturing the handmade fans. With farmers cutting the date palm trees from the roots, craftsmen are faced with a serious problem.
