Heavy rainfall and strong winds preceding cyclone Laila have adversely affected normal life in coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. The affected districts include Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna, Nellore. People are living in complete darkness, as there is no power supply in Nellore, Ongole, and Machilipatnam towns. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Visakhapatnam, the situation is due to the proximity of cyclone Laila to the shores.
