Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram visits Kashmir

Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram arrived in Kashmir on Thursday to review the security situation of the valley. This is his first official visit to the troubled state after assuming office. Tight security officials at the airport in Srinagar received Chidambaram. His visit comes in the backdrop of the strike and protests over the alleged killing and rape of two Muslim women by the security forces.
