Punjab Police nabs five drug peddlers, seize 26 kg heroin

Acting on a tip-off, the Special Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police in Amritsar arrested five drug peddlers and seized 26 kilograms of heroin from them after a brief gun battle with the accused on Sunday. A top brass of the police also mentioned that one of the accused identified as Gurjant Singh suffered injuries from his own weapon when he had fired in panic on the police party that had surrounded the smugglers who were trying to escape. Five police officers suffered injuries while over powering the resisting smugglers.
