Rising heat brings water shortage in Orissa villages
With rising temperatures, people in various parts of India have started facing water shortage problems. Residents of Kashipur village and its surrounding areas in Rayagada district of Orissa reel under the same plight. The shortage is so severe that the residents face problems not only on account of drinking water but also for bathing and washing clothes. Besides, the water is contaminated. Villagers further lament that water pipeline and tube wells do not work and therefore people have to get water from outside the village. Most of the tube wells and hand pumps in the area have dried up due to decreasing ground water level.
