Rising mercury, humidity leaves Orissa dry

With heat and humidity on the rise, life of the people in India's eastern Orissa state has become paralysed. Beginning of May is proving to be quite testing for the people in state capital Bhubaneshwar, as they muster courage to venture out of their homes and face the blazing sun. Average temperature is yet to peak, still hovering around 40 degrees, but coupled with high humidity levels, close to 85 percent, summers have made life miserable for the people of the state on the Bay of Bengal coast.
