Sixth phase of UP polls begin amidst tight security

The sixth phase of elections in UP began amidst tight security on Thursday morning. Joint Chief Electoral Officer Kamini Chauhan said that all necessary steps had been taken to ensure free and fair polls in the state's constituenties. He also said that UP's borders with Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand had been sealed for security reasons and that Central paramilitaries were deployed in the naxal-affected areas.
