Take prosperity to the villages, urges PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday said that agriculture growth at around two per cent was causing distress in rural communities, and urged greater efforts to raise rural output and ensure inclusive growth. Speaking at the meeting of the Full Planning Commission, Singh also directed the Planning Commission to come out with a concrete proposal to provide additional central assistance to states and examine how subsidies can be directed better.
