Turmeric cultivation boosts economy

The tribal dominated state of Orissa primarily depends on agriculture and minor forest produce since a major portion of this region lies in hilly terrain. Besides, the area being partially dry, the farmers rely on rainwater for irrigation. As for the overall climate, it is not too warm and the sloppy hills are suitable for turmeric and ginger cultivation.
