Dozens killed as bus falls in Uttarakhand gorge; Pres Murmu, PM Modi grieve

A deadly bus accident in Uttarakhand's Pauri Garhwal has killed more than two dozen people. The bus was returning from a wedding ceremony late last night when it fell into a deep gorge in Simdi village. More than 40 people were onboard the bus when the horrific accident took place. Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami visited the spot to take stock of the rescue efforts. He also visited the hospital in Kotdwar to meet those injured. The Uttarakhand govt also announced ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh to the kin of the deceased. President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with several other leaders express sorrow over the incident.
