Govt picks Dinkar Gupta, who was shunted by Cong as Punjab DGP, for NIA top post

The govt has appointed former Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Dinkar Gupta, 1987-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Punjab cadre, will serve as NIA boss till March 31, 2024. Gupta will take over from CRPF DG Kuldiep Singh, who was given additional charge of NIA chief in May last year. Gupta was removed as Punjab police chief by Cong-led Channi govt in October last year.
