India & U.S coast guards display maritime ties during 'Abhyas' drill off Chennai

The Coast Guard of India & the United States held mega joint exercise - Abhyas, off the Chennai coast on Monday. The four-day visit of United States Coast Guard (USCG) Cutter, Midgett culminated on Tuesday. During the visit, the USCG ship and Indian Coast Guard exchanged best practices on search and rescue operations. The joint exercises were focused on acquainting the Coast Guards of the two countries with each other's capabilities and on promoting a 'free and open' Indo-Pacific.
