Chief Justice Of India-led Constitutional Bench today upheld abrogation of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Narendra Modi-led Government on August 5, 2019 stripped the Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and divided the erstwhile state into two union territories. The move was challenged by Kashmir-based parties and other organisations, including J&K High Court Bar Association, in the Supreme Court. The top court however upheld the Centre's decision.
