A newly declassified CIA intelligence brief has revealed that Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda network had identified India and Pakistan as possible targets for terrorist attacks years before the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. A top-secret brief prepared for then-US President Bill Clinton in August 1998 said bin Laden intended to carry out attacks in several countries, including India, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Uganda and possibly Nigeria.
