Former Congress leader Abhijit Mukherjee joined Trinamool Congress on Monday. Abhijit, son of late President Pranab Mukherjee, has been a two-term MP in Lok Sabha from Jangipur seat. This comes as a setback for Congress in West Bengal after it drew a blank in previous Assembly polls and won no seat in the state. Several prominent faces have left Congress in recent years.
