Why BJP, Congress joined hands in Meghalaya. 'Power Hungry’, says isolated TMC

In a first, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are part of the same alliance in Meghalaya. All five Congress MLAs in Meghalaya led by Ampareen Lyngdoh joined the BJP-backed ruling camp. Ampareen Lyngdoh said the decision was taken for the benefit of the people of the state. The MLAs switched over to the National People's Party (NPP)-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) govt. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a constituent of the ruling alliance in the northeastern state. The move left Mamata Banerjee's TMC occupying the opposition space in the state assembly. The move came months after 12 of Cong’s MLAs, including former CM Mukul Sangma, joined the Trinamool Congress. Watch the full video for more.
