India beat Syria 2-1 in Nehru Cup opener

Defending champions India weathered rainy and damp conditions to score a 2-1 win over Syria in the opening match of the 2012 Nehru Cup soccer tournament in New Delhi. Speaking to media person's coach of Indian team Wim Koevermans said that the home side adapted well to rainy conditions to prevent Syria from capitalising on a strong show in the first half of the match.
