U.S Air Force grounds Osprey fleet over safety issue | Details

The entire CV-22 Osprey fleet grounded by U.S Air Force Special Operations Command. The safety stand down comes after 2 incidents of 'hard clutch' engagement in 6 weeks. In many cases, gearboxes & engines need replacements - Class A mishaps ($2.5MN+ damage). Hard clutch engagement involves the clutch connecting the rotor gear box to the engine slipping, then catching hard, causing the aircraft to lurch.
