A British diplomat jumped into a river and rescued a drowning student in southwest China. Video of the incident was shared by Britain Embassy Beijing on Twitter. 61-year-old Stephen Ellison is the British consul-general in Chongqing. Ellison jumped into the water at a scenic spot after spotting the struggling student. The student had reportedly fallen in the water body by accident. Video shows a woman drifting face-down in the water as onlookers scream in panic. Soon, the diplomat takes off his shoes, plunges in and swims to her aid. A lifebelt is then tossed into the river, enabling people on bank to drag them to safety. Ellison received overwhelming praise on the internet for the selfless act.
