Post Afghan loss, China dares US with new law to tighten hold in South China Sea

China’s new maritime laws are set to flare up tensions as the new rules demand vessels to submit to Beijing’s authorities before entering ‘Chinese Territorial Waters’. What China claims as its territory is disputed between many countries. Beijing claims a vast majority of the South China Sea as its territory whereas its neighbours and other countries seem to think otherwise. India too uses the disputed territory for trade as it an important passage for trade with Japan. US and China have hit out at each other on many occasions over the disputed territory.
