The US admitted that launching the drone strike against suspected ISIS terrorists in Kabul was a 'mistake’. It said the drone strike, during the final days of the US pullout, killed 10 civilians including kids. The strike, a macabre coda to the 20-year war, was meant to target a suspected IS operation. The US said its intelligence had 'reasonable certainty' that the IS op aimed to attack Kabul airport. “Our investigation now concludes that the strike was a tragic mistake,” General Kenneth Mckenzie, Commander, US Central Command said. US Defense Secy Lloyd Austin, in a statement, apologised to kin of those killed in the strike. “As the secretary (US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin) says in the statement, we apologize, and we will endeavor to learn from this horrible mistake,” Pentagon Spokesperson, John Kirby said. US carried out multiple strikes in Afghanistan after its soldiers were killed in suicide bombing. In the August 26 attack, more than 180 people including 13 US troops were killed at the Kabul airport.
