Watch | Prisoners participate in dance festival

These men are showing off their fancy footwork at an open-air ethnographic museum in Bucharest. The only difference is that they are not an organized arts group but prison inmates. Organizer Ioana Morar said the festival is aimed at keeping the inmates connected to traditional culture. Romanian prisons are severely overcrowded. The country has only 46 prisons for some 29,000 prisoners, so the festival provides the inmates an escape in more ways than one. The Festival features 78 performers from all over the country, who are in prison for a wide variety of crimes.
